So many excellent Guest Stars on Castle. Who was your favourite one or maybe it was more the great character that they played?

Dana Delaney as FBI Agent Jordon Shaw. Female. Mother. Ran the unit she was with. Kate jealous of her. Jealous of Rick liking her. Jordan Shaw was the first Jordan on the show. There were a few characters called Jordan. Including a teen female in Season 6 episode 17 Smells Like Teen Spirit ie the teen Carrie like -- but she wasnt.
FBI Jordan Shaw also told Kate that Rick likes her ie Kate. Also that Nikki Heat was part Kate and part Rick.
Rick liked Jordan's FBI high tech gadgets and 'played' with them......to the chagrin of Jordan. Jordan also could see that Rick liked Kate.
Jordan Shaw appeared in Season 2 episode Tick Tick Tick and also subsequent ep, Boom. In which the first serial killer appeared. He was a fan of fiction character.....Nikki Heat. According to the Castle wiki page, Tick Tick Tick and Boom (at least till season 5 or 6 or maybe always... as it was never corrected), was the shows highest rated eps and rated 14. That was for Season 2. But as already mentioned, it was never changed or updated. Dana Delaney played Nathan Fillions older wife in Desperate Housewives.
Dana Delaney was the fan guest star who played the fan fave who all wanted to return to the show. This never happened.

The character I would have liked to see more of was Castle's agent Paula, she was brilliantly played by Debi Mazar, a fun character and sadly under utilised.

Absolutely, there was just so much potential with some short and sharp scenes using ' Paula'. Here's a little Tribute to Debi Mazar and 'Paula'.

Captain Max, The Final Frontier. Loved Ed Quinn in the performance Captain Max! Actually whilst his character was on the strange side (being nice) the actor, Ed Quinn scrubs up reasonably well when you see him out of the spandex!

Bringing Syd's suggestion of ' If Only' they used Beckett's friend Maddie further in another storyline. So nominating the character of Maddie because she gave us such a great scene and small insight into a younger ' Becks'! Julie Gonzalo played the character of Maddison Queller, the high school friend of Kate, who was now running a successful restaurant.

Okay, I know it was Season 8 (gag!), but I loved Mia Laszlo (Stephnie Weir). She cracked me up and I thought the scene where Castle tells her that she belongs out in the world was very touching.

He opted not to. He wanted to chase/follow Kate. Paula so should have been on camera way more than she was. She was his agent. Its like the show producers thought her job was complete when Rick decided to accept 4 more Nikki Heat books. Rick was always procrastinating, Paula could have come to the loft, and/or the Precinct to see him, and see what he was doing, to chase him up. But she didnt.

Fave character and Most Definately U n d e r u t i l i s e d!!!! was Kates father, Jim Beckett!!! He So Should have been Included Way More Than He Was......considering he Was Kates father. And a lawyer!!! Couldnt he have been used in a case where one is murdered, or a friend/relative is??
Or even with family dinners, (he had only 1 and that was in After Hours, Season 5 episode 8). There is so much more that Scott Paulin who played Jim Beckett, could have been involved in. But Wasnt. If Only.....
He especially didnt have Any lines to say when Kate finally married Rick, the love of her life. He so should have.

Character actor 'Natalie Rhodes', played by actress Laura Prepon (who also played on That 70's Show...).
Whether the role of Natalie Rhodes was ever only meant to be a one off -- or whether it was decided by abc studios/network/or Laura Prepon herself not to continue the role (ie maybe she got another role before she was cast in The New Orange(or whatever the show was called), but it was a shame that the character of Natalie Rhodes never returned.
Natalie was hysterical in the way she copied Kate's mannerisms and her clothes, plus her observations and insights into the reality of Kate and Rick. Laura Prepon did a brilliant job of portraying the character of Natalie.
The last time the movie Heatwave and Natalie was mentioned was in Season 6 episode 3 Need to Know.

Season 4 Episode 5 Eye of the Beholder....Writer Shalisha Francis
Kristin Lehman as infamous insurance investigator, Serena Kaye. Serena was a hoot. Kate was jealous of her - or rather that Rick liked her, and that Serena liked Rick - much to Kates annoyance. Plus that Rick and Serena flirted -- or more it was a case of Serena flirting and Rick stirring Kate.
Kate didnt want Serena to consult on the case. Serena went straight to Captain Gates, and enveigled herself into the case, further annoying Kate.
Serena knew that Kate was jealous. The boys knew Kate was jealous. Rick knew Kate was jealous.
Kate also told her psychologist of Serena being "cocky, stubborn, know it all"
Serena Kaye morphed into Season 5's Cloudy With a Touch of Murder's weather reporter who asked Rick out...
The whole episode of Eye of the Beholder re the reactions of Kate, Rick, Serena, the boys, the psychologist, were funny.

Season 4 - Michael Dorn as Kates psychologist.
He was able to convince Kate she needed therapy to have the kind of loving relationship that she wanted - with Rick.
He asked Kate probing questions that she didnt really want to admit to herself, but the questions made her think indepth of where she was going and how to get there.

Season 5 episode 8 After Hours
Guest Star --- Major Crimes Tony Denison (Lt Andy Flynn), played mob hitman who got Rick to get into the car after he went to help. He asked who Rick is, and chatted, and he also rang Kate (on who's phone?) and arranged to meet by bridge.
I found Tony Denisons role in this ep interesting. It was also so far removed from the police lieutenant Andy Flynn of Major Crimes, and prior to that, The Closer.

Episode 10 Significant Others...Writer...Terrence Paul Winter...
Darby Stanfield as Meredith, Rick's first ex wife and mother of Alexis. I mention her because I think Darby played the role of Meredith very well, and the scenes with Stana and mr fillion were played brilliantly.
Meredith knew how to enveigle herself into the loft, she knew that Kate was wary and suspicious of her, that Martha didnt like her for walking out on Rick when Alexis was 3 years old, a toddler, didnt realise that Alexis, even though she was sick, didnt really want her mother there; plus she was probably there to cause trouble/chaos, but toned down when she saw and realised how good Kate and Rick were together --- although Meredith did just wear undies when she got up and went down for breakfast, knowing Rick would be there eventually, and tht Kate would be there too.
That scene alone managed to annoy Kate so much that she went to work early. Kate made sure she had the upper hand in dealing with Meredith. The scenes were acted really well.

Actually whilst his character was on the strange side (being nice) the actor, Ed Quinn scrubs up reasonably well when you see him out of the spandex! Yes, the winner for a pivotal character in an episode is Captain Max by a long shot. If we're talking about any character of any duration in an episode it's still the Captain, but the "cat lady" from Fool Me Once is a very close second.

Sorry to hear about your dog. Glad you have others to keep loving. Goldens are wonderful dogs. Their only problem is they think they're lap dogs. :):)

No problem with the lap dog-that doesn't happen thankfully. But you need an excellent vacuum cleaner-or two! Wearing dark colours and you quickly acquire a mohair look!

Season 6 ep 14 Dressed to Kill...writer...Elizabeth Beall
Frances Fisher as Matilda King, doyen/boss of fashion magazine, and who got Kate to model the wedding dress (that not many fans liked).
Frances played the role very well.

Dana Delaney played nathan fillions wife in Desperate Housewives.............
The above dialogue/expressions/scenes were spot on., especially in the light of newcomer FBI Profiler to Kate, still getting to know Rick., yet what she already knows about him.
I totally agree re your comment that it would have been brilliant for the character to re visit. Especially either during their dating or engagement -- or when they eventually married. The comments would be hilarious, insightful, and possibly including an 'I told you so!!' ie from Jordan Shaw., and thus getting a reaction from Kate.....

Hi everyone!
I absolutely agree about Jordan Shaw. I would have loved for her return over cringeworthy Slaughter, but alas, another IF ONLY...
I just have to add, Jack Coleman as Senator Bracken. Having lost count of the times that I have watched the arrest in Veritas, we recently had Recoil repeated and (for me) he just brought something special to the scenes in which he appeared. Not just with Stana where there was some kinda chemistry going that almost equaled Stana & Nathan, but with the boys and Rick. (I would love to see Stana and Jack in another project together on screen).
For me when villains are 'quiet' they are far more creepy than when they lose it.
B :-)
