ep 9 Mr and Mrs Castle....writer Christine Roum... Rick improvises jazz dance. (The murder victim was a dancer). Rick not happy with Kate for not telling him truth of why she separated from him, and Loksat. That she could have come to him and they could have had the cover separation and taken Loksat down together. He also says she likes being broken. (so to go from s7 Sleeper -- to here ---seems to be double standards. : Rick got amnesia after going missing from original planned - aborted wedding. He was missing for 2?? months -- or was it 4? ie mid May to late Sept); Kate was in anguish with not knowing. Also, to go from Caskett 'time out from time out'/1st Anniversary in The Last Seduction, to the double hacking of computers by Hayley and vikram, while Caskett were phone flirting,.....is also toying with fans.------ To the 12th scene, where rick is unhappy with Kate.; But after s5, s6, s7 . . . . . to still tell Kate she likes being broken ? ? ? ? Kate at loft, to Rick "You were right. Everything you said, you were right" Rick "Could you be more specific?" Kate "Thaat part about the earlier cover separation, so that we could bring down Loksat together" Rick "I wish you would have come to me" Kate "Well Im here now" Rick "Its Not that easy" Kate "I thought that..." Rick "I'd take you back despite what you put me through?" ? ? ? ? ? (Double Standards) Rick "you hurt me Kate" Kate "And Im so sorry that I hurt you --it was never what I wanted" Rick "You lost faith in me Kate" Kate "No!! ---I neve --- I Need you Rick. --- never ealised just how much till this happened" ( ? ? ? ? what about s5 ep 20 Still - with Kate standing on the trigger plate mat and Rick and her both working out the code to defuse bomb??) Kate "Please don't make me do this without you" (And through this scene we fans all get large doses of whiplash via the script, storyline, and independent/badass Kate/'master interrogator as Rick called her, and Captain Kate Beckett, like when she went up against Vulcan Simmons and her mothers killer, Sen Bracken. Kate saying she never realised till then how much she needs Rick, after Still, was ridiculous in the extreme. Castle fans all over the world reacting to this writing....

OK, it's not a top 'least favourite scene' but what the hell was Nathan doing with his hands here? Why were so many of his scenes where he had to touch his co star in a loving way with his thumbs sticking up and his hands stiff like he didn't want to actually touch her? These are questions I would like answers to-thank you, that is all! Adding. Can anyone truly believe that work obsessed Kate Beckett would have a bedroom that looked like this?

Are you saying you don't hug people like that? That is so weird. 😲 I think the room looks more like Stana than Beckett. It's really boho or whatever style that is.

That scene is from s5 Reality Star Struck aka Valentines Day ep and Kate's gift to him was his own drawer......and yes I agree re the comments re his thumbs and his lack of proper embrace - especially for the Valentine's Day ep....

Seemed to me he was either angry and scowling or complacent and bored starting mid-season 5 some of the time and then almost continuously as the seasons went on whenever they had scenes together. For me his acting sounded the death knell of the series, even more than the deteriorating level of writing and absurd story arcs after 6x23.

I think he had grown accustomed to getting his own way, and also his fly days had given him a sense of being lauded and of having power and being powerful. He also didn't like the fact that he wasn't the only star on the show and didn't like or want to share the limelight. Which made the Caskett coupleship storylines ironic??/opposite?? when the actor didn't want any of it to happen, but the dialogue/scenes/storylines had it basically centred around the character of Rick Castle, but/yet the dialogue/scenes/expressions were I think designed to fool the audience, but didn't succeed very well. Cases in point: being a couple, getting engaged, married, plus the baby aspect. Stana said she wanted Caskett to have kids. So by season 6 we had the baby ep, in which case Rick was chief handler and Kate not being a baby person, plus of course the infamous proposal, and also the aborted wedding, then the eventual one......Plus thee was no Kate thinking she may be pregnant storyline or that she was. In the dating phase, there was no actual dating as in having dinner (actualy eating of food) themselves or with Ryan and Jenny or Espo and Lanie, and the only dinner they sort of had was the interrupted brief scene in ep After Hours.
There was virtually no hand holding at the loft, or even briefly at the precinct. We mostly got buffoonery from Rick in the eps, the worst ones being the Big Foot (especially that outfit he wore in the woods.....), him interacting with the giant gorilla, and turning alexis into an avatar, plus his constant various silly expressions to the camera. They were overdone.

Agree with ^^^ for the most part. After establishing such great chemistry between the characters of Kate and Rick, based on the seemingly natural chemistry between the actors, the showrunners just dropped it for the most part. Hence none of the personal scenes you mentioned and the few that were included were always interrupted. It was ludicrous since it was the personal Castle family scenes that were so critical to rounding out the Rick character in the early seasons. Personal scenes between them and between Kate and Martha, Kate and Alexis, would have been a natural extension of those. I have to admit I didn't pick up on many of these problems in real time, more so in retrospect during season 7.

And that's why the addition of Hayley in s8 was insulting. alexis especially became close to hayley but not or never did apart from s2 with Kate. Martha and Kate scenes were moreso during season 6 in the engagement season. and early part of s7. The natural chemistry of the actors ie Stana and fillion is also what sold the show in the first place ie Pilot, rest of season 1,2 and 3.

re the above, she found he had woken up and gotten back into the wheelchair and kept watching the across the road apartment, Kate found him in the wheelchair asleep again.........and as the above last gifs shows, he is still more concerned with the across the road apartment 'murder' and is absentmindedly patting his chest, rather than her.......
This is from the 100th ep.

This was a retort used a few times in the series and TBH it never endeared me to Castle. It also goes to his leering at club dancers and Geisha's etc. The fact that the writers thought it funny that a Father, as good as Castle was characterised to be with Alexis, would actually be flirting and taking phone numbers while out with his daughter is pretty shallow. But that's just my take.

I decided to post this anyway even though its old: Castle s5. Its no wonder viewers/fans were getting aches and pains, they had double whiplash!!!Season 5 had 10 brilliant Caskett overload eps -- then eps 11,12 not so; followed by 13. Recoil - which was Kate and Bracken and attempt on his life, then 15 and 16 being Target and Hunt in which is virtually all Rick and kidnapped Alexis with a little of Caskett thrown in.
Ep 14 is Reality Star Struck which is Caskett overload re valentines Day.
Target and Hunt is the most dramatic we have seen fillion play Rick in quite a few eps, since Always.
Ep 17? Scared to Death.
By the way, was fillion supposed to be/rumoured to be/ nominated for an Emmy/Golden Globe for Target and Hunt -- but didn't get nominated/or win? or was it simply a rumour as Castle was always classed as a dramedy? Does anyone know?

One more-for now! Am I the only Castle fan who wanted to slap his self centred face in this scene? Talk about tone deaf to what Beckett endured in his absence. Don't start me on how he consciously made the choice to remove his memory as well as that he had been interfering in her Mother's case by investigating Loksat. Run Kate Beckett, run..... #701 #720

THE TIME OF OUR LIVES
Finally the wedding has arrived....but its a greenscreen of 'Hmaptons', and.....there is no Espo, Ryan or Lanie (meant to be Ushers and Bridesmaid....... Nor does Kates father Jim make a speech of any kind, say a few words to Rick, or welcome him to family, or say anything at all. which was a crime in itself.

EYE CARUMBA
DETRACT Rick questions a woman......in the womens restroom/toilets of a classy theatre........(Kate was in toilets when he walked in, but she walked out, leaving him still there....).
Rick questioned the woman even though she was in a cubicle........

Just saying there aren't strong enough adjectives to describe how much I detested this scene and this episode. Love Kate Beckett but this episode I got to the point, particularly after the kiss, that I'd wished Castle turned around here and said ' Fine, if he's what you want then count me out'. I totally agree, and yes, this ep is totally cringeworthy. And its placement as well. I have seen this ep about 3 times, whereas most of the others, countless times. The way the ep was done was also cringeworthy, ie way over the top.

NEGATIVE IMPACT
KNOCKOUT
THIS IS A DOUBLE/DUO SCENE WITH LEAST LIKED LINE. RICK VISITS KATE AT HER PLACE TO TRY AND GET HER TO SEE REASON AND STOP PUTTING HERSELF IN DANGER. SHE WONT LISTEN; IVE ALWAYS . . . . HATED THIS ENTIRE SCENE AND CRINGE EVERY TIME. TO ME, ITS AS BAD OR POSSIBLY WORSE???(IS THAT POSSIBLE???) THAN ALWAYS. NOT FORGETTING WHAT HAPPENS THE LAST SCENE OF KNOCKOUT. . . .
Kate's apartment to Rick 'Last time I checked it was My life, Not your personal jungle gym, and for the past three years, Ive been running around with the schools funniest kid, and its Not Enough!!!'
Rick 'You know what??? this isnt about your mother's case anymore. This is about you needing a place to hide. Because youve been chasing this so long youre afraid to find out who you are Without it.
Kate You Dont Know me, Castle, you Think you do, but you Dont'
Rick 'I know you Crawled inside your mothers murder and Didnt come out. I know you Hide there, the Same way you Hide in these Nowhere relationships, with men you Dont love. You Could be Happy, Kate, you Deserve to be Happy. But you're Afraid'
Kate 'You know what we are, Castle?? We are O v e r. Now Get Out'
IMPACT; KATE KNOWS THAT RICK IS RIGHT, AND THATS WHY SHE ALSO IS ANGRY. THIS SCENE IS BEFORE RICK RETURNED TO THE LOFT, DRANK, AND THREW THE BOTTLE AT THE WALL/ARTWORK FOR NEXT NOVEL, SCARING MARTHA. MONTY (CAPTAIN ROY MONTGOMERY IS ALSO SHOT DEAD RE HIS INDIRECT ROLE IN JOHANNA'S MURDER, AND LAST SCENE IS KATE BEING SNIPERED IN THE HEART AT HIS FUNERAL, AND RICK TELLING KATE HE LOVES HER).
