I don’t have any insight on the distribution of this movie, but considering the major shift in the US and European markets caused by the cataonavirus outbreak, I would be looking for a deal to quickly get this product out on a streaming video service. Movie theaters are going to take a big hit from social distancing into the Fall if we’re lucky. Demand for inhome entertainment is about to skyrocket. I think it’s time to make a deal, but who am I to say. I agree but also disagree, mainly because that not everyone anywhere in the world has some kind of major streaming service. I myself dont. No one knows how long this coronavirus pandemic will last. I think for this special movie, it should be shown three ways (if possible); cinemas (not an option right now in some countries); streaming ; or shown on tv as a tv movie, but in this case, show it as a tv movie first. I realise that once seen on tv that people may not want to pay to see it in a cinema when its safe to be seen, but the more people who Do see it, the better. The movie is history, about women spies and should and needs to be seen worldwide. It needs to be reviewed worldwide and by luminary people as well as social media article writers, newspaper entertainment writers, tv film reviewers, various countries tv magazine film reviewers, radio people and everyday people.

Now I totally agree with JNorton. For cinemas to close, our only alternative to now see Liberte' A Call to Spy, is via streaming. Lets hope it gets to AXN? For here, ie Australia, our cinemas are now closed indefinately, as I gather they are around the world. I can only hope that Sarah Meghan Thomas knows what she is doing re doing a deal with whoever to get this movie to be seen by the world.

Does ^^^ mean that it is now being delayed in being released? So who knows when it will be released now. Good Grief! So the beat goes on in us waiting for both it and Absentia 3. . . . .

It’s looking less and less likely movie theaters in the US are going to open before there a successful coronavirus vaccine is highly effective in the general population. That’s a full year to 18 months, probably longer. That’s an optimistic guess.
Liberte’ is a historical film which gives it some additional shelf life for distribution in theaters. I’m sure it’s about money. If it were me I’d did get the best deal I could get on streaming video as soon as I can, but just my opinion.

In today’s New York Times, May 25th, there is an interesting article on a new movie. It’s a fiction, romcom, mystery with Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani, The Love Birds. Different movie, but sort of the same market. The interesting thing is mechanics of the distribution of this film in these pandemic times.
First, this film was scheduled to premiere at SBSW, but that festival was cancelled. So, they were going for regular opening in theaters, but that wasn’t possible. Now, it’s featured on Netflix. Now, the details are unknown and significant, but what the producers have done with the distribution of The Lovebirds is a good template for our times.
I am surprised Liberte hasn’t done something similar. Obviously details count. With the shortage of products in the can, maybe Liberte will show up on a streaming service.

Excellent news!!!! (And about time). Many many thanks for posting this brilliant news JNorton! I believe this historical film is a true gem and a rare one at that simply because most of the actors (or at least the main ones), are female, including the writers and director. It also deserves to win more awards.
