That's so cool that you know the author. Wonder if she'll be - or has been - asked for background info. She would have had to do a lot of research for an historical novel. Looks like an interesting read.

May I just say I'm excited for this project. I love WWII stories and think Stana is perfect for portraying a character from that era. It's a strong role, all three women are strong, so it should be right up her alley. I'm also excited by the fact that it's written by a woman, produced by two women, and directed by a woman. That should provide an interesting and perhaps unique take on the whole "spy" theme.
I'm also excited for a whole new thread for a Stana project!!! Thanks, Siegmund.

Two other books for background are: Spymistress: The True Story of the Greatest Female Secret Agent of World War II by William Stevenson A Life in Secrets: Vera Atkins and the Missing Agents of WWII by Sarah Helm
Both available on amazon and probably your local library (unfortunately mine does not have The Tiger Claw)
Amazon's synopsis of Spymistress
"She was beautiful. She was ruthless. She had a steel trap for a mind and a will of iron. Born Vera Maria Rosenberg in Bucharest, she became Vera Atkins, legendary spy and holder of the Legion of Honor. Recruited by William Stevenson—the spymaster who would later come to be known as “Intrepid”—when she was only twenty-three, Vera spent much of the 1930s running countless perilous espionage missions. When war was declared in 1939, her fierce intelligence, blunt manner, personal courage, and knowledge of several languages quickly propelled her to the leadership echelon of the highly secretive Special Operations Executive (SOE), a covert intelligence agency formed by, and reporting to, Winston Churchill. She recruited and trained several hundred agents, including dozens of women, whose objectives were to penetrate deep behind enemy lines. The stirring exploits and the exemplary courage of the SOE agents and the French Resistance fighters—who in the words of General Dwight D. Eisenhower together “shortened the war by many months”—are justly celebrated. But the central role of Vera Atkins has until now been cloaked in silence. William Stevenson was the only person she trusted to record her life; he kept his promise that he would not publish her story until after her death. Here is the extraordinary account of the woman whose intelligence, beauty, and unflagging dedication proved key in turning the tide of World War II."
I wonder if Vera was the inspiration for Miss Pierce in the Foyle's War TV series. Anyone familiar with that show? One of my favorites. I re-watched the entire series earlier this year.

Hilda Pierce, played by Ellie Haddington, appeared once in a very early ep and then in most (all?) of the late- and post-war eps. She's the kind of actor who makes an impact larger than her role and time on screen.

(And no Im not thinking of the character played by Honeysuckle Weeks. Wasnt she Foyles driver and/or secretary?). The eps Im thinking of were around the end of the war. The last time I saw the show was around 3-5 years ago. Many thanks for your good luck wishes re me getting the books from library. I appreciate it.

Good for Stana. I was actually hoping for her to be on a project that gave her a great role but with a film that had a great writer, better director, and more star power in the cast.

Good for Stana. I was actually hoping for her to be on a project that gave her a great role but with a film that had a great writer, better director, and more star power in the cast. 'Great role'. Think that the playing of a RL WW2 intelligence operative, who was rumoured to be Ian Fleming's inspiration for the character of Miss Honeypenny, sounds like a great role to this fan. Sarah Megan Thomas — who created, produced and starred in the story of last year's Wall Street thriller Equity — wrote the project's script and will produce the real-life drama with Lydia Dean Pilcher, who will direct. "(Equity) premiered In Competition at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2016.[3] Shortly before its premiere, it was acquired for theatrical distribution by Sony Pictures Classics[4] and was released in the United States on July 29, 2016 to positive critical reviews". source
"The movie will be Pilcher’s second directorial feature, after co-helming the recently completed Radium Girls. In addition to critically acclaimed narratives like The Darjeeling Limited and The Talented Mr. Ripley, the Oscar-nominated documentary Cutie and the Boxer and international stories like The Lunchbox, Pilcher has also produced many strong female-led movies, including The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Queen of Katwe."
'more star power in the cast'? My view on that is that HW is a factory that produces the next ' star' from sometimes the most unexpected projects. Let's see what the project delivers before assessing the performances of actors who haven't actually performed in this project yet. It's an interesting RL story that holds promise of what the film could be-let's give it a chance to show the story?

I am very, very, very happy for Stana and this role. I was just hoping that her success on Abstensia would have garnered a bigger movie or movie role. With her schedule cleared, my guess is that she had other options. That's all.
