I get videos not found also or asking for CC numbers. I don't think I'm going to get to see this unless the US really has a network! Don't worry, be happy, we will get it in the US, legally and without risking our computers. What the heck is a CC number anyway? As for surviving the delay, I feel as if I'm tip-toeing through quicksand. I want some info, but not too much, so I find myself reading bits of posts, then stopping when things get too detailed. Yet I can't stay completely away. LOL at myself. I think the 'CC' reference is young folk talk for Credit Cards? Could be wrong-often am.

Hmmmm. The reaction of a guilty conscience? There are also hints that Nick failed to do something to protect Emily when she disappeared. The convicted killer alluded to it as did Nick's boss. Then Emily asks if Nick thinks that they would be together in present time if she had not been taken. Clearly Nick has some baggage here.

You could look at those six images without words, without being told the scene, and know exactly what it was about. The first sight of Flynn, almost breathless, the 'come here', the shock of seeing how big he is, the joy and grief of touching him. Powerful acting.

Hi everyone
So I finally got to see this episode midnight on February 1st.
Wow, brutal opening!
Emily - just felt for her in captivity. She has the ability to murder as shown when she was surprised by the FBI agent in the hospital and the way she beat on that guy at the end. Her son was obviously her focus to survive. She didn't look as if she was agoraphobic because she was outside with other people but she did look as if she was having a slight panic attack when she went to leave the apartment. Instead she went out onto the balcony which was somewhat enclosed so that to me it appeared that she was still in a 'prison' even though she was free.
Nick - I thought it was interesting the way he reacted to that telephone call. Woken in the middle of the night he didn't say "stop trying to mess with my head. Just tell me where her body is" and then tell Alice and his office about the phone call. Instead he didn't waste a second jumping out of bed and getting to the location. Does that mean he somehow still believed that Emily was alive? That would explain his guilt even more that he gave up looking for her.
Alice - I found her expression at the graveside interesting. Was Emily the third person in her marriage? Her reaction when learning that Emily was alive was to take a bath, not to relax though. And then the argument with Nick about the leak as if for her, Nick is already paying too much attention to Emily and starting to ignore the family he now has.
Flynn - Confused, maybe even a little scared, but I loved that he was able to give Emily a hug when she needed one. And who didn't love baby Flynn splashing in the water with his parents and older Flynn playing with Emily's hair and giving her a hug.
A very dark series for sure and not sure it would be one that I would watch.

Just finished watching episode one and was on the edge of my seat. Thoroughly enjoyed Stana's performance. Because so dark I'm not sure I would have watched it if not for Stana, but I really enjoyed it. It definitely had the weaknesses others pointed out, but overall they didn't really bother me. Will be watching to see if various characters flesh out more in their development. As for Nick's character's flat affect, well, I would have liked to have seen more facial expression for sure. Right now I'm just so excited to finally see the show I think I tend to gloss over the performances by others that weren't exactly stellar. Like KB1L40, I thought Alice's reactions at the grave and during her shower interesting. I didn't care for the psychiatrist at all; found him creepy. Question: Can DNA stay under someone's fingernails even as body is in water an extended period and decomposing? I liked the twist of the flowers and their names along with Semertov(?),the trafficker, being dead. BTW since BookaBoo is an Amazon show, I guess Stana may have been giving us a clue way back when she read that book that Amazon would carry Ansentia. Anyway, on to Episode 2!!!!

I have now seen the first episode. I quite liked it. It is indeed very vey dark, and not normally something I would watch, but Im watching because Stana is in it.
Apart from Emily of course, the character most feel sorry for is the son Flynn, as it would be difficult, not to mention traumatic, to have his birth mother, out of the blue, presumed dead, return. It was also heartbreaking for Emily to hear him say she was not his mother.
I also feel sorry for Alice, the 2nd wife. She must be feeling as if she has encountered a 'living ghost' with Emily returned out of the blue after being finally rescued from that tank of water.
As for Nick, I also feel he may also be suffering an immense amount of shame, knowing he didn't look hard enough for Emily.
I also don't think that Emily got enough time to recover. In the hospital for how long?? she would be starving, needed to get the use of her legs again, and probably physio on her legs, and also needed work on her lungs, and breathing to get it/them working properly.
I liked what I saw of the show so far. I also liked the brother and her father, and her dog obviously recognising her and welcoming her back. I also liked it when Emily saw the old home movies of baby Flynn, and the dog as a puppy.

Just watching episode 1 of Absentia while waiting for lunch. The villain is in the first episode as a reporter as Emily is unloaded from the ambulance at the hospital. 13 min 55 sec. She's only on for a few seconds, but she is there. She, the villain, shows up again as the reporter who sneaks into Emily's hospital room at 19 min and 56 seconds. How about that?
So, in retrospect, Emily, even in her confused state, is defending herself against the person who held her captive for 6 years. The psychiatrist wrongly assumed that Emily was just confused and attacked the reporter as a reflexive response. In truth Emily recognized her and did really want to kill her. Ha.
OK, the villain is introduced early on and shows up now and then as a minor character. Too quick and subtle for me - disappointing. I don't think the audience got a fair shot to figure out who the killer was going into the final episode. Top flight writers give you that chance.

In the final ep, when the killer/abductor/pretend reporter revealed herself to Emily, after removing the voice changer, Emily said in surprise/shock/total disbelief, 'You!!!', and that was also after Emily saw the video of herself as child changing the files on herself and Logan/reporter/abductor/killer.
