So the last three episodes are 'out' and they are in Russian. Kind of ironic considering their alleged finger in everything else in the cyber world! Am I alone in thinking that whoever has managed the Absentia project's release to the public has completely stuffed up? All this open pirating going on and even encouragement from the lead of the show to do so-this from the same company who have attacked and litigated hackers and individual pirates alike around the world? This isn't a strategy or some new way of doing things. This is amateur hour and incompetence. When it smells like a rat, it usually is IMO.

Ive seen various parts of eps 2-6 on youtube,(ie 2-4 minutes each scene), and Im wondering re a scene I saw between FBI boss? and Jack, if whether they are in cahoots together? Im probably wrong. Just putting it out there. Don't want to let the cat out of the bag, but lets just say that Nick doesn't seem to be able to find his alternate facial expression in any scene he is in. The FBI boss isn't in all the episodes.

Come on, latte, you know very well that you're not alone in this! At least one other person on this board has been very vocal in saying exactly this, multiple times.

Many thanks for the info that Jack dosnt have a multitude of facial expressions, which is quite sad, and not very good in acting especially if the character requires to be. Also many thanks for the added info that the FBI boss isn't in all the eps. Much appreciated.

I may be reaching as it were, but do you also think a conspiracy of sorts is also involved to ensure that some countries don't receive the show for many months, if at all? ie surely Sony AXN could have done a deal to ensure that Absentia reached all over the world, and not just some countries? or only available via streaming? Its just a thought.

Its just a thought. Honestly no idea. But its not unusual to have a show being released at different times in different countries. Look how we were treated as Castle fans in Australia! But what is perhaps odd with the commercial decision making here is that Absentia is essentially an American show about characters that live and work in Boston. Doesn't matter where is was created but the setting is US. Stana herself has said it was created for US television I believe? Then you have the Official Absentia Twitter account saying for four months that it has been sold to the US but for some reason the buyer is being shy about telling us that? One would think if there was a US buyer that they would want to at the very least tease that they had the show and it was coming 'soon' as they would be aware of interest on SM from US fans? But silence is their commercial strategy. Think it will eventually be in Australia on the Foxtel network as the channel in NZ is an arm of that platform.

Here's the list of premier dates for Castle, the UK didn't get it until over a year after the States, and then it was a relatively minor cable channel that picked it up where it vied with Rizzoli & Iles as their top show with 400-500K viewers. USA 9 March 2009 Australia 17 May 2009 Belgium 23 September 2009 Netherlands 8 October 2009 Italy 16 October 2009 Slovakia 13 January 2010 Germany 6 February 2010 Japan 15 March 2010 UK 7 April 2010 France 5 July 2010 Hungary 20 July 2010 Sweden 7 October 2011 My twopennyworth is that Sony has only had control of its own channels, such as AXN and Sony Sci fi across Europe, and Crackle in South America, but it seems they were aiming for a bigger audience than their US based channel might attract, and they have announced that they have found an interested party, but having sold the US rights they presumably have forfeited any control of when it actually airs and how it is promoted in the US.

Im just finding it hard to see other countries added to the list of who will get to see Absentia, and we here Down Under are still waiting,(Plus the UK , ---and the US distributor is biding its time re announcing its acquisition),... and one of my biggest bugbears is that our TVWeek still hasn't bothered to mention that it was made!! Re the show in general, if the SonyAXN idea was for it to be an experiment, then Im not sure I like their tactics. They should have realised what with Stana's world wide appeal and being the main favourite, and especially seeing how it is set in Boston US, and that it was filmed in English, that English speaking countries of whom received/saw Castle, wanted to get Absentia as soon as possible.
I do not have Foxtel. (The Aussie filmed/set in Tasmania The Kettering Incident, that won 3 Logies this year, was screened on Foxtel last year apparently. I saw it via youtube, all 10.....eps...).
We here on channel 9 have seen a couple of New Zealand shows.

Episodes 7 & 8 are great. This is going to be a big hit in Northern Europe. Anyone who liked The Bridge or The Tunnel or Wahlandar is going to go for Absentia in a big way.
Not that thrilled with the editing, but maybe that has to do with cutting it back for broadcast TV.
Stana continues to be wonderful.

At this rate I will have seen them all before the US gets them.

You mean if you sign up with putlocker you can download Absentia and watch Couple of weeks ago-very negative twitter back and forth -person and Absentia TV about not pirating. As in your ass is grass if you pirate? I placed a link in a post above that has the first eight episodes-it gets a new one each week. There is no signing up or costs. I stream the show-there is a download option but the spam that usually comes with it I can't be bothered negotiating. As to the morality on it all, frankly if its good enough for Stana to promote finding a way to watch it-wink wink-then its good enough for this fan. If I waited to watch the Castle episodes on local TV here it would be months after the US and usually with breaks at odd times to cater for local sporting events. So I found ways not to be at a disadvantage. The Absentia TV site can preach their high moral ground but their own credibility is somewhat in tatters as they have misled US/Canada fans with their 'soon' nonsense. Plus, if SONY TV didn't want people to be watching it online then you can be sure the many sites that have it would have been shut down pronto. The fact that they have not speaks volumes as to how they are managing the distribution of this project.
