Unless I missed it, I find it interesting that there have been no pictures of Stana as Vera except for the one on the stairs and possibly blowing out the candles on a . B :-) I'm glad for a little mystery. I don't mind waiting for the big reveal. :)

Oh, I love bts, but I like it with a little devious secrecy. Ha, ha. I thought Absentia did a brilliant job, raised my curiosity but didn't spoil things. Btw, this last photo makes me wonder how many years will be covered. Stana looks like she's been 'aged' a bit with the hairstyle. Perhaps it's from the post-war years when Vera hunted down what happened to the missing agents.

Temple - thanks for that picture.
Quasar - agree about the aged look on Stana but I wonder if that's just the lighting. Also your suggestion of an after the war hunt is far more interesting a story for me because I am not a war movie watcher.
B :-)

So cool that Vera's on this list. Unfortunately, she didn't make it into my top three, which was the voting limit. Anyone else vote?

Interesting interview/article with Radhika Apte Interview: Radhika Apte on ‘Sacred Games’, playing a spy and the need for transparency in Bollywood "Apte said there were many reasons she wanted to do this film. “It is an international film and nobody knows this character,” she said. “The director is amazing too. Another reason is that many of us often get stereotypically cast in foreign films. This character has had a very international existence: born in Russia, her mother is American, father is Indian Muslim, she’s a British national who grew up in France. So I felt that the role really does break all stereotypes.”"

Seems like Sarah Megan Thomas is not following the proper stana katic instagram account (dfstanakatic rather than drstanakatic) !!!

Not sure, but here is the link www.imdb.com/name/nm4895049/ to his it says he plays a character called 'PAUL'. Did check his Twitter and he hasn't mentioned the spy movie, which I found odd. Perhaps he is going to be in the Bulgaria phase of filming?

Further to the above, the pilot fiance's nickname/codename was Stringbag, and first mentioned n page 20/21 of Spymistress, ie chapter 2. Hope this helps.

In book, A Life of Secrets, Vera went to Bulgaria to check on what happened to her fave 4 Agents, including Noor Anayat Khan. So thats probably/maybe what they are filming now in Bulgaria. This is the 2nd half of the book.

But a Life of Secrets definately says that Vera went to Bulgaria to check up on whereabouts of the agents. Maybe Budapest is supposed to be Bulgaria? I am very tired, having spent the great majority of 6 weeks trying to take in as much of Spymistress and a Life of Secrets as I could. Both books are extremely intense. Both books have been loaned from local library for the now 3rd time.

The average viewer will never tell the difference between Budapest and any Bulgarian city, I assume that Budapest offers a better deal for filming and economics wins out.

Budapest has a lot of post WW buildings so they can sell it as Paris, Berlin, Moscow, turn of the century New York. Lot's of international productions come here because of some kind of tax benefits. The Red Sparrow, Nat Geo's Picasso and The Alienist were shot here for example.

That said, Im sure lots of films and tv shows are filmed in Hungary for tax benefits, and also because of buildings and landmarks resemble other places.
