Oh dear. Does he know the truth re Valerie, including why she took drugs, drank? Being a retired Detective, he would have been privy to Valeries rap sheet/file., ie delved into it.

Interesting episode, a lot of clues and new information about the case lead Cal and Emily to head to Europe, Moldova specifically, chasing a hired gun who seems responsible for the deaths of all the victims. All of the victims displayed uncharacteristic behaviour shortly before their murders, is there a connection to Emily's doctor in season 1 and Catalyst Dynamics, perhaps they are still conducting experiments and then cleaning up the failures. Tommy and Emily seem to be finished, after last week that is no surprise but she seemed genuinely sorry and missing him but he does not want anything to do with her now so for the moment is consigned to the ex's spot. I am surprised that Emily does not put up more of a fight where Flynn is concerned, she seems to be the whipping girl for all things Flynn related with Alice especially blaming her for everything. Emily did not ask to be kidnapped and held for years, did not engineer Flynn and Valarie's meeting. I think she needs to show a little backbone in these situations, she is the boys mother and has a right to her say in his upbringing. I am not sure how far this story with Jack and Alice will go, but the writers are teasing us with the idea that it could go further than just colleagues.

The ep is fast evolving now. Not quite blink and you miss it stage, but getting there. The pace is very quick. After the last ep recap, Emily is back at work with FBI, and upon walking through the main area, she rings Tommy and apologises saying she knows she screwed up and asks him to ring her.
The terrorists wife is interrogated, and she makes a comment that causes Emily to walk out, leaving Cal. He later goes to where she is in kitchen, but she dosnt speak of how she left Tommy....
Alice and Jack's friendship is growing via a shared lunch she brought from home, to work.
Flynn is back, and so is Warren. They are playing 'games' at an arcade. Warren clutches his chest and falls. Flynn calls the ambulance. At the hospital, Jack informs all there that Flynn saved his life. Warren had a cardiac event, not attack.
(Well well well)....; The Durand/Byrne family have a family dinner......with Warren..... Next Well well well...; Flynn lets slip re Valerie and that she died.....Alice enquires as to who Valerie is/was..... and argument ensues after Warren says that Emily keeps her own counsel and everyone else has to live with it......Emily walks out of family dinner.....Nick outside tells Emily he will have to report that Valerie was her birth mother......(and what was she thinking(or words to that effect).
The FBI now think that the other terrorist is an ex military sniper, plus wonder if the first terrorist chooses victims as of their weakness. The FBI are transporting the young terrorist in a van, when the other terrorist, injects the younger man thus killing him. Nick in front of van uses radio to ascertain if things are ok back of van, gets no answer, sees gas bomb be thrown, then stops van. Nick tracks older military terrorist, but is found by him, and told to lie on ground face downwards, then count backwards to 100. Terrorist then leaves. FBI boss Crown finds Nick. Back at FBI HQ, Nick tells Emily he understands what she went through re Flynn, as all he could think about himself, was Flynn. Emily hugs Nick.
The military terrorist has fled to Moldavia, and Cal is on the case. He asks for Emily to partner him.
Warren visits Emily and gives her a Saint Michael necklace to protect her, telling her the Saint also protects warriors too.
Emily rings Tommy again and asks him for another favour. Flynn again sees therapist but just with Alice present. Flynn feels frustrated.
Last scene; Cal and Emily on the way to Moldavia.
The action in this ep is never ending. Im very glad to see the Durand/Byrne family dinner. Till the argument/comments started. Also very glad that Nick finally realised what Emily went through re missing Flynn, and that he kept her going. Nick experienced the same thing. He didnt want Flynn to lose his father too., so Nick what the military terrorist asked him to.
Next ep is in Moldovia.

Thought there were some better scenes with Emily this episode that spent time on her face and Stana played those well. Tommy has seen the light. Nick is his usual all about Nick. How he could in all seriousness equate his minute of thinking he was going to die, with Emily's years of torture and realising he didnt want his son to lose a parent was shallow. Don't trust Cal. Father hiding big time secret. Nice writing with the St Michael medal. A symbol of the battle and perseverance of good against evil, perhaps her father is well aware of what she's going up against?
Alice is coming across as a little bitchy but can understand she's emotionally struggling with her ice man husband. Agree with the comments that wished Emily had pushed back harder at the family dinner. So Nick is going to tell tales on his ex? That info didn't appear to have been revealed in the final part where Cal and Emily were assigned to go out of the country to look for the killer. Seems like Catalyst Dynamics have been playing with some human experiments and there's a clean up going on to remove the evidence? Wonder if Emily was part of that experiment?
Emily's last call to Tommy where she mentioned Catalyst Dynamics, I'm betting he does some snooping and gets himself killed. Just adding that the FBI are not exactly written as being very competent in Absentia. It is what it is.
Judging by the name of the next episode, it looks like Emily and Cal will be going undercover?

Yes I had an idea that Flynn may spill the beans re who Valerie was. Re family dinner, I got the idea from the pic of Byrne/Durand family...(plus I watch Blue Bloods and sunday family dinner is a regular weekly feature), and in movie Sister Cities, the 4 sisters and partners and the mother have a family dinner.....

This was a transition episode and one where the story of the serial killer moved along quickly. I agree with almost everything has been already said about this episode. It covered a great deal of ground in the mystery. You get the feeling that Emily already knows key elements about the relationships of the victims, but maybe it's just PTSD. Again highly enjoyable.
Some things I think I know
- Emily is worried that her erratic and violent behavior is tied to the serial killings. - Emily is worried that Flynn's recent violent behavior is tied to the serial killings. - Emily's father knows more than he is saying. - The pendant that the murder victim's wife was wearing in the opening of e5 means something to Emily. -
