The dots are starting to join to some aspects of the story-at least as it applies to Emily. Liked the directing for this episode-I think the same person directed E7? There is a better pace to the scenes with more camera time on characters to extract greater depth of emotions IMO. Was always dreading the snake scene since seeing the BTS pics of the animals and must admit to looking away at that point! Nick finally coming to some personal realisations and thought the scene with Alice at the end was well acted by Patrick H. Alice still presents as there's something more than the affair going on with her. Poor Jack, he really can't take a trick in life. He's finally enjoying some happiness in his life and its probably about to all come crashing down. Thought the scene with Nick and Flynn in the woods was all kinds of awkward acting, just didn't feel a connect between the two of them at all. Emily seeing all the sinister pieces starting to come together and it's not a good story for her. Stana's acting in this episode was the best for the season-she always nails those facial emotions and she didn't let us down in this episode. Just one pushback on the scene with Nick charging into Emily's apartment and basically thinking he can get some compensatory sex from his ex wife. That's the second time he's pulled that on Emily and it was pleasing to see her character had moved on enough to push him back this time. 'We don't get to go backwards. We can't'There's something more going on with Alice. That's my hunch. Flynn's aggression probably has an explanation now? Overall, without looking too closely at the production stuff, I thought this was a well acted and directed episode that moved the story forward finally and left us with a big cliffhanger. Telling you the therapist is suspect!

Very glad that the Boston PD boss (at the wake), told Emily that she (boss) suspended Tommy, and why ie that he was investigating Catalyst Diagnostics and was caught., also glad that Emily tells Cal what Tommy was investigating secretly.
Cal and Emily learn that all the dead victims re the injections, have had prior medical conditions.... plus that the blown up terrorist, Wollfe administered the injections.
I had another 'Castle' moment re Nick wanting to play hookey with son Flynn for a day......
Another scene with Jack and Alice kissing but this time in the toilets......
Emily checks out interior of Tommys car, but from front seat perspective, and suddenly reads written in condensation on the left window; 'Quill'.
Very interesting scene between Alice and Nick......she Tells Nick that Flynn (still) Needs therapy. But i got the impression (sort of distinct), that it was a loaded remark. The acting in this ep is top notch, especially by Patrick Heusinger who has upped his acting as Nick in this ep especially., and especially in the scene where he has the heart to heart chat with Alice.
Im still not a fan of Alice who has always acted high and mighty re Emily especially in Season 1. She came good in first few eps till the family dinner....
Nick visits Emily at her place and tells her he thinks Alice is having an affair....
Cal arrives soon after Nick leaves, and Emily mentions Quill that Tommy wrote in condensation on car window.... they research it, and learn that it was a project from the 70's...Emily tells Cal of the other foster kids who were also experimented on.
Nick apologises to Alice for his behaviour - distance and then explains about being with the terrorist and thought he would die, that he felt a coward, that he ran from Flynn and her and the miscarriage. Alice apologises too, saying she felt working would make her feel valued and she feels restless, and her heartbreak at (probably) not being able to have a baby.
Emily checks out a building connected with Catalyst., and comes across a white coated man, who explains about Quill and shows her various animals. He also mentions his collaborator, Lou Fang. The white coated man is Professor Mathison. This is simon Rouse. (so the Moldavian assistant looked like him).
Emily sees a large group photo and in the middle of the group is Lou Fang.
I just had a thought; could Alice be a/the daughter of Prof Mathison?? Its probably (too??) far fetched, but anyway...

Syd that is a complete recap. Nice. Episode by episode Absentia gets better and better. You can tell that the actors are having a great time working on this script and it shows in their performances. There is a scene between Katic and Heusinger in her apartment that is spectacular. Another scene between Heusinger and Theobold at the dinning room table that is about as good as it gets for those type of scenes. The screenplay and the actors are hitting on all cylinders. The direction and the camera work in this episode are tops. For the past 3 or 4 episodes I've been looking for ways to point out negative aspects of each, but have not been able to find them. Each time I thought something was weak it turned out to be critical. Uniformly very good. I think that the move to 3 directors made a big difference in season 2 over season 1.
One more thing - The work that the bit players do continues to be first rate in every episode. They are given good parts and they do them very well. It's this extra attention to detail that advances the quality of the production.

Emily always in dark light. Alice in white light. Alice involved all the time-good plot. Not really sure about stuff in Moldavia-I liked the old women. If Season 3 -what involvement of new FBI chief-she did not have to shot Alice dead.

If Season 3 -what involvement of new FBI chief-she did not have to shot Alice dead. I never picked up on that Alice was in white light, whereas Emily in dark light. Totally agree re if season 3. I also want to know what Warren knows, and if he is actually Emily's biological father. Re FBI profiler; is she who she seems? ie is she also part of the plot; even though I didnt like boss Crown, did profiler remove him so she can keep eye/check on Emily re any further memories? and no, profiler didnt need to kill Alice (but I disliked Alice from three quarters of show), and why, when the shot was so far away, and in the night time, and did profiler see (highly unlikely so far away), that Alice had a gun pointed at Emily?..... I would like to have unanswered questions answered. I hope it wont be too long till we find out if there will be season 3.

Why many thanks JNorton!! Much appreciated. That Stana and Patrick H scene you refer is him again after ....and this time, she turns him down. Great move. I totally agree that this season is better than the first. Ive only seen a couple of negative things, but Ive always been a positive/encouraging poster. With this season, it was delved further into the first, and Emilys torture, and her rescue, and since it, and her killing in self defence, her kidnapper/torturer, and also delving further into Catalyst Dynamics, and how/why Emily was injected; plus the into and quick demise of her mother, plus Emily's continual flashbacks. Re the directors, it definately helped having 3, and one (or two?) was/were women. Original, ie Oded Ruskin, did the first 3 eps. I also agree re your comments re the bit players.
