sourceBlind Items Revealed #2 September 19, 2019 The show is popular with or without the actress, so of course the company producing it dismissed the claims of the actress. They also signaled to all actresses that complaining will get you nowhere and that if you do speak up, you won't work like you did before the complaint. Nothing has changed. It is all talk. Looks like Madam Secretary got the older viewers that ABC was hoping The Rookie would get (and shouldn't that show be called Madam President now?). Madam Secretary is in its last season, so its ratings really don't matter at this point, but The Rookie needs older viewers to change from CBS (NCIS:Los Angeles) to it (no one is switching over from football on NBC or after the animation shows on Fox are over), and that hasn't happened yet. If they don't get those total viewers numbers up I'd say they're toast.

Heavy advertising on the ABC football broadcasts today. Prime revenue spots. They are pushing the Castle alumni hard. ABC is putting substantial money promoting the show. Expecting strong return. If the ratings on this episode don’t significantly improve The Rookie will be in big trouble..

If that’s the case, then this is the FIRST time, they have ever promoted the show in the last few months. They didn’t even send Nathan to any talk show.

NYer, JNorton, Castlefan - interesting comments. And you would think that ABC would have Nathan or even Seamus or Jon on some show talking up the reunion. If not a talk show, maybe an ad where they appear together..?
B :-)

Perhaps in twenty years time when some of the residual fan anger/disappointment has eased somewhat? Anyone who puts up their hard earned into a reunion project for Castle without the two leads has too much money to throw away IMO. It's a great shame that the legacy of the show includes the ugliness in its ending.

^^^The interesting number there is for Madam Secretary. This is that show’s last season. ABC needs a show to replace it. If The Rookie could do a bit better they could make a case for a longer run in that Sunday slot. The money has to be right. Hence the casting of the golden oldies.

Not sure what you mean by ABC replacing Madam Secretary - it's on CBS, not ABC. ABC needs a show to compete with whatever is going to replace Madam Secretary, and The Rookie is showing no sign that it is the answer. TV By The Numbers saying that The Rookie stayed even is also a bit misleading - its total viewership went down more than 10%, which shows that it's not getting the older viewers it needs.

Ive just discovered that a pic of fillion is part of a clue in our TVWeek in its tv puzzle page ie Picture Pointer, ie re the rookie. I am not impressed as Ive yet to see Stana re Absentia and Castle, and;
Also just discovered that the rookie is now rating here. It rated number 17 for the Top 20 shows for last Monday. It aint fair. He wrecks Castle, and yet still has a following here. Comic cons aka Supanova, still rates highly here too. I think Melbournes was in september? and I think Perths (Western Australia) was two weeks ago. It is nearly 4 1/2 years that I saw fillion and sat around 8 rows in front of him at the Q & A at Sydney Supanova in June 2015.

Im not a comic con/supanova person as such. I just went as some former abc board members asked would I go. I live around 30 minutes by train from the venue at Sydney Olympic Park. Re the website, Im not sure where the info is, but try Sydney supanova or Melbourne sunpanova or perth supanova australia 2019. I havent tried it in over a year myself. I do remember though that when I saw him, the programme magazine had his pic on the cover, and two other sections, mentioning both the fly show and Castle. Further to above, I just checked it out. Just type in either sydney or melbourne or perth supanova 2019 and up it comes. The main few guests that I know of were Elijah Woods, And. . . . Barbara Eden. . . Barbara Feldon .. . . Dawn Wells. And apparently Alan Tudyk cancelled. I used to love watching Get Smart and Gilligans Island. Wasnt a particular fan of I Dream of Jeannie though. Google does also refer to it as Comic Con. But to us its called Supanova as thats what the website and programme magazine call it. Tickets are already being sold for it for next year

Tickets are already being sold for it for next year Actually I meant, do you have the link to the Australian ratings? You wernt specific enough and Im not a mind reader. Here is the link to the Aussie tv ratings. However/further to the original post, when I again checked the ratings, the number went from 17 to 20, and I dont know why. The initial number I saw was definately 17. I wasnt specifically searching for the rookie ratings, but looking for something else, and I found it by accident. Anyway, here is the link; tvtonight.com.au/2019/11/monday-11-november-2019.htmlThe show screens here on our Monday nights. Australia is around 14-17 hours ahead of US depending on East Coast and West Coast. To reach the actual ratings, simply scroll down the page till you see Australia/Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane/Adelaide/Perth. There is a bit of preamble till the ratings appear, and below the 5 main state prime stations, is the ratings for the secondry stations also know as digital. These are always less in number but equally as important in the scheme of things. Our ratings numbers changed around 10 or more years ago, and our top shows nightly used to rate between 1-5 million per show, but now the highest rates around 1-3 million. The ratings also in the beginning didnt have streaming or computers, but was strictly tv broadcasting. The ratings also are a general ranking taking in 7 days. The above link is purely for that nights ratings only. Our TVWeek used to always print the weekly ratings, but now only prints them every so often, but also because the viewing choices are varied between the prime stations/2ndry ones (ones that screen mainly older shows with a smattering of new ones alongside various other shows).

a pic of the real man/cop who inspired the rookie series.
He looks years younger than fillion does. Poetic license changed for Nolan's age obviously.
