If Only...Someone in authority at ABC had cared about Castle. If only they had understood why fans who were still watching loved the series. If only that someone had dictated to the actors this is what they were supposed to be portraying. Whatever their problems they needed to leave them in their trailers and do the job they were paid to do. If that task was too difficult then they were in the wrong profession as acting is about 'make believe'. If only that someone then dictated to the writers this is what you are supposed to be delivering to the fans so get on with it. B. :-)

If only, the relationship of Kate and Alexis had been properly explored. They had so few scenes from the time Alexis did work experience at the 12th in s2 or 3, to s7, and virtually nothing in s8. In fact one of the few scenes that they had was when Kate, in s6 ep 16 Room 147, met Alexis at café to ascertain if Alexis had an issue with Kate and that's why Alexis didn't want to move back to loft after she broke up with Pi, but Alexis said she was embarrassed that Rick was right that she was too young to move out and so Kate got Alexis to move back home, and Alexis thanked Kate;
and, in ep 21 Law and Boarder, re the Scrabble game.....Alexis fistbumped Kate after Kate beat Rick.
There were so little Kate and Alexis moments, which is why s8 and haley was extremely hard/impossible to swallow. s8 had virtually weekly haley and Alexis scenes........

If Only, the showrunner/s had decided to give Espo a proper love interest, prior to the ehd of s7, or 8.
The show had been 'toying' with the idea of a romance between Espo and Lanie since virtually the beginning, but moreso from season 2. Then out of the blue in s7 ep 8 Kill Switch, they paired him up with the female Hispanic Transit cop. Then by ep 10, after Lanie got Espo to go along with a charade to her parents by pretending they were engaged. Then by eps end, they decided to just be friends.
I do think it was sad that he was the only brother who didn't have a proper relationship.
I also think he was a bit jealous of Ryan and Jenny, as Espo was at times condescending to him.

Am I alone in being both grateful and sad when clever people create these 'IF ONLY' gifs of CASKETT? link

The first pic is the one where I said that one can see fillion in the shot, and he dosnt look too happy....that was him being him and not in character. The scene in general was Kate telling Lanie that she had found her dress/gown for the wedding. ie 'just the right mixture of elegant and saucy' . This scene in general was great in showing Kate and Lanies friendship and being best mates and Lanie also being confidante. Many thanks for posting these, Latte.

re the above; just a thought...: could it be possible that certain people wanted Stana in 'trouble' with fans for Kate saying she wasn't a baby person?? ie thereby giving a false impression that Stana had changed her mind re Caskett having kids or at least interacting with them in the future??
Like I said -- its just a thought.
By the way, many thanks for posting these pics re Little Girl Lost.

Almost posted this as a Favourite Caskett Moment, but then thought maybe it's an 'If Only' one instead? But this was such a great scene, well set up artistically and writing. But, my If Only is why oh why was there no follow on from this dialogue? Why, yet again is Castle left mute and looking dumbstruck? Why not step up the tension and have him mutter-'What about me'? or perhaps 'That's what I long for too"? I mean, let's face it, Beckett sure wasn't describing Dr Motor Cycle Boy here, and yet that's who she again chose and left Castle to trudge away with his head bowed and shoulders slumped. Thoughts? KB: "I just wish that… I wish that I had someone who would be there for me, and I could be there for him, and we could just dive into it together." Source
Not touching how this statement by Beckett was completely thrown out the window by the writers with the continue theme of ' It's my life....." Nope, not going there: DC, secrets, Loksat.

Latte - that wish in the tent is just one of those never followed up moments. As Rick said they almost died frozen in each others arms, they kissed, but they never talked about it.

Very true!!. He in the actual dialogue, he was stirring Kate, and the zinger was when he said he was taking Alexis. The 'best' thing about the end scene re Ryan and Jennys wedding was when Rick turned up alone, and he and Kate, 'walked down the aisle' ...together ......to find a seat .....as they decided to be each others 'Plus Ones'. Thank you for posting these gifs Latte!!

If O N L Y.........theyd put on their creative hats to devise plots/eps to involve Kates dad, lawyer, Jim Beckett more. He shouldve had way more input than he did.. eg murder of a clients friend/family member/work mate. etc etc etc. Jim appeared in about 4-5 ?? eps in all. The last one even more shocking in the infamous wedding in which he said nothing, no words to Rick re looking after his daughter, no words of love to Kate re finally marrying Rick, and no comment to Martha about them finally being family...... That was definately lazy writing.

There had been a pregnancy scare story. With Hover Dad To Maybe Be willing Kate to be careful so as not to hurt a possible baby. Then Detective Kate/2IC of Homicide/12th Precinct Kate/Wife Kate, telling Rick that a pregnancy hasnt been confirmed yet.......she goes after a crim aiming her gun at them......
Kate putting forth that women cops are mothers too. A pregnancy scare story wouldve been a massive hook for viewers to see if she Was pregnant.
Or for Kate to fall pregnant during season 8 after they got back together. Some fans were in favour of a pregnancy, others not; some fans were in favour of a pregnancy scare story, others were not. I would have been ok either way, or both ways. I hoped for both. Pregnancy would have also made s8 more palatable.

IF O N L Y........Another, or more than one ep had been featured re ; The Old Haunt! ie the club/bar that Rick bought in Season 3. Surely they could have had some eps that featured Kate and Rick or the boys having drinks in the bar before going home; or having a bar staff person murdered and the team investigate the murder.

Surely they could have had some eps that featured Kate and Rick or the boys having drinks in the bar before going home; or having a bar staff person murdered and the team investigate the murder. Always thought it disappointing that the writers didn't try and bring in some other locations aside from the loft or the 12th Precinct. I remember in the scene where Castle was in his parallel world and he and Beckett went out to a bar to have a drink together. It was so natural and normal for a couple or even friends and workmates to do. How hard would it have been to build a set with just a booth representing the Old Haunt? The show was always very one sided in showing outside of work time for the characters. Castle was always given the family scenes at the loft but Beckett had very rare interactions with anyone aside from a couple of scenes with Lanie in her apartment. Always enjoyed any scene with James Beckett but they disappeared for whatever reason. Was reminiscing on the great music in the show in the early seasons. The character themes created by Duncan were wonderful, as was the use of other music in particular scenes. That too seemed to drop away in the later seasons. Was Robert Duncan still part of the show or did he leave mid way?

Was Robert Duncan still part of the show or did he leave mid way? I totally agree that there could have been a replica aspect shot of The Old Haunt at the studio. One of the Extras on either season 6 or 7, or maybe even 5... featured the main set builder/designer, and how he could have the necessary things that appeared on camera seem so real. One being a feature in Kates apartment, that apparently was actually wood and plastic painted grey/silver. . . .. .The builder/designer showed how when he got a call from ? (Marlowe/abc), that he went into action to produce the plan for whatever was needed. The whole workshop was shown ie electrical and etc. My point being, that surely with his impressive credentials, he shouldve been asked to build the Old Haunt replica/a shot of whatever was required for a certain scene. I also totally agree that the show was very one sided in the outside activities of the characters. Remember the one off ep that actually featured Espo with his family??? In Season 7 or 8?? They shouldve been featured in Season 4 or 5, not 7 or 8. Lanie herself only had one ep with her parents and that was season 7? For established supporting characters, (from the Pilot not less, these eps should have been planned for way much earlier than they were. I think the music man Duncan only got the help in Season 7 or 8, but Im not sure. It could have been earlier. Totally agree that his themes were brilliant. They added more meaning and much flare.

I always thought that the Old Haunt would have been a great place to celebrate New Year. Another "Still" type episode when the team got snowed in. Martha would decide enough of the stories and get up and perform. To Rick's surprise she brings the house down, the boys then get up to do a skit, and then either Lanie or Jenny decide that they can do better and drag Kate up with them. The episode would end with everyone toasting in the New Year, getting ready to leave as it's safe to do so, when a group of guys burst in to rob the place only to find themselves out gunned!

Exactly. If Only(. . . .) the script, had told that story . . . . ie Actual Dialogue, re their emotions/shock/trauma/of what was in their hearts and minds. and fear that Rick was really actually dead.

Im stumped. But I will say that the pic on the right looks like Alexis as of the red hair . . ., and the pic on the left looks more like Stana than Kate. It looks like a meta pic of Stana being Stana more than Kate, and used as a prop. Maybe props guy Rob Kyker took the pics?? Royal is from Season 4. I think Alexis pic is from s1-4. I think Alexis wore the wine coloured dress during a Book Launch, ie s2-3. Ie the ep in which Kate reads her dedication for the first time, as pointed out by Monty. Many thanks for posting these.
