WOW! Great beginning. Intense. Well done. If the Absentia team wanted to up their game they have succeeded. Good writing. Better than S1. If this is a taste of what is to come. This is going to be one heck of a great season.

And continuing on with what an interesting issue of my TVWeek for next week, but bought today, from the 1/4 page intro of the rookie, to . . . . . . ;
2 pages of Profile; Stana Katic. Stana Katic has been won over by the charms of her Aussie co-star, Matt Le Nevez. Story; Helen Vnuk;
Absentia; 21-2 Amazon Prime Video DRAMA
Stana Katic dosnt open up much about her former Castle co-star, Nathan Fillion. she's also very private when it comes to her husband, business efficiency consultant, Kris Brkljac. But theres one man she cant stop raving about; Aussie actor Matt Le Nevez. 'I mean, he's beautiful', Stana 41, enthuses to TVWeek. 'He's got that wonderful, ruggged handsomeness and he does everything with a charm while having this capacity for real bad-assery. Thats a poor word, but thats the best I can do right now'. That'll do just fine.
Aussies have long been aware of the charisma of former Offspring star Matt, but for Stana, he's a fresh face. The actress met him during auditions for the second season of her psychological thriller, Absentia. In the thrilling series, Stana plays Emily Byrne, an FBI agent struggling to return to her normal life after being held captive for six years. Matt plays Cal Isaac, another FBI agent with a complicated past. 'He's fierce in this season', Stana says, 'He's a fantastic actor and he delivered in spades throughout. And in between we managed to laugh quite a lot and cheer each other on, which was really extraordinary'.
Absentia is a big show for the Canadian local. emily is a much darker complex character than Castles confident NYPD Detective/Captain Kate Beckett, who toes the line of serious policewoman chasing down bad guys and a woman grappling with her love for a colleague. But this role is vastly dofferent. Stana needed to put in a lot of preparation for the role, both physical and mental.
'I needed to make sure she had that believable sort of gauntness. Aside from that, I needed the strength to sustain through the fight scenes. so I spent a lot of time hiking. Yoga is a wonderful balance for some of the more emotionally strenuous scenes. Stana also researched the experiences of people who've been held captive. she met Jaycee Dugard who was abducted at age 11 and kept prisoner for 18 years.. 'I respect her as a human. she's got a great sense of humour. she's just a beautiful loving person and a true formidable individual. I spoke to her, I know about her story, and definitively, it sat with me'
But as much focus as Stana is putting into Absentia, she is executive producer, plenty of her fans arnt willing to let Castle go. Although the comedy-drama series finished in 2016 after eight seasons, it ended unpleasantly for Stana, with her being cut from the show a month before it was axed. However, she knows how many people love Castle and is careful to speak positively of it.
'I feel like a person who's responsible to curate that for the audiences, or to make sure that that memory stays special for them. Last week I spoke to someone whose father watched it regularly before he passed, and it was something he would speak about with a tremendous amount of delight. To have been part of something that engaged people that way is a true gift'
Recently Stana has had more and more people wanting to know if she would like to see Castle revived, and if she would be part of it.
'I get asked that a lot lately. I dont know why its happening now, but I feel like you have to deliver those sorts of questions to the person who is the creator of it'
Right now she'd like Aussies to watch Absentia - to see Matt in action.
'For the people of australia who are familiar with his work, Im excited for them to see this chapter. They wont be disappointed'.
Did You Know; Stana's husband Kris grew up in Australia with his two brothers. 'I know a fair amount of Australian's obviously' , Stana says.
Pics with feature interview; Emily with Flynn; with Nick; A Caskett pic, Stana with husband Kris, and a pic of Matt Le Nevez.
